How much heat does an electric fireplace produce?


The heat comes from a built-in heating element. In most models, the output falls between 1 and 2 kW, comparable to a plug-in electric heater. This is sufficient to noticeably warm a seating area or smaller room.

Most models offer two heat settings, making it easy to adjust the output to suit the situation. You can choose a gentler level of warmth or a more powerful setting when needed.   • Example 1: flame effect only (no heating) Running the flame effect alone uses between 50 and 100 watts, costing approximately €0.01 to €0.02 per hour.
  • Example 2: low heat setting (±1 kW) Suitable for gentle supplementary warmth, for example in the evening. Cost: approximately €0.22 per hour.
  • Example 3: high heat setting (±2 kW) For extra warmth when needed. Cost: approximately €0.43 per hour.

Is an electric fireplace suitable as a heat source?
